Tech Tip Tuesday from 10/27
Tuesday Teaching and  Technology Quip Tips

Tuesday Tech Tip
"Ok Google" Can you help me out?

Did you know that you can talk to Google Chrome when you need help finding something? If you use the newer version of Chrome as your browser, you can talk to Google rather than typing your search in. Look for the microphone icon to the right of the search bar.)
Simply say, “Hello Google” and give her a command. Try saying “OK Google , Will I need an umbrella tonight?”, and the weather report appears.
Here are a few other fun things you can try.

  • Ask Google where your favorite movie is playing.
  • Ask if Abington High School won the football game on Saturday.
  • Find a restaurant nearby
  • Translate a phrase into Portuguese.

"With a little help from my friends"

This week's Tech Tip Tuesday is a low-tech , cost-effective and environmentally friendly way do group work and formative assessment in your classrooms. I enlisted the help of a few high school students to make a short video (a little over 1 minute) to show you a way to get reusable dry erase posterboards for cooperative learning groups. Thanks,  Kailey, Carter, Tyler, Cole, Tabitha ,and Amanda!

Virtual Library Tour

I have created a Screencast with a tour of the new AHS Virtual Library website. Please click on the link below to learn about resources and tools that can be found there to help you and your students.

The Screencast is about 10- 15 minutes long but I think you will find it very helpful. I will also link it to the website so it can be viewed at any time by staff and students.
After you have taken a tour of the site please select one item that you found on a Pinterest board and one link or resource that you found on the AHS Virtual Library site that you will use in your classes. Post a comment on this blog bout them.

Thanks !!!

We hope to build a new middle/ high school  in our district. I am looking for ideas for the Library Media Center. I have seen many great examples of new school libraries with innovative and inviting ideas, often with a "Learning Commons" type model. Does anyone have examples they would like to share, or ideas about what kinds of things should be considered in designing a 21st century library media center?
